President - Emma Southerington

Name: Emma Southerington
SUGCR-era: 1993 - 1996
Role: President
Likes: Bellringing, bellringers, beerage, bacon butties and any combination of the aforementioned.

About me: I live and ring in Deepest Lincolnshire and occasionally dabble with ringing peals and handbells.  I very much enjoy teaching and supporting young ringers in achieving their ringing goals.  When not ringing, or in the pub after ringing, I am usually occupied with one of my other hobbies: eating, sleeping and working as a maths teacher.

Ringing at university is a fantastic opportunity: its a cliche, I know, but you'll gain lifelong friends, discover the wonders of Nellie's Nob and eventually, as an oldie, look back fondly with a big grin!

Master - Clare Merivale

Hi, I’m Clare, I’m a music student from Essex, and I started bellringing about 6 years ago. My time bellringing with SUGCR has been the most fun I’ve had, and it has really boosted my enthusiasm for ringing. It has become a really important part of my life because it is nice doing something you enjoy with people your age.
I would really encourage you to either start bellringing or to continue because it is great fun, and everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Alongside bellringing, we also have a lot of socials as a group of friends. Come along to one of our practices, and a lot of fun is guaranteed!

Vice Master - Josh Harris

Hey, I'm Josh and I was born and bred in Somerset and I'm a computer science student.

I learnt to ring around 5 years ago and ever since joining SUGCR, I've had an amazing time and have learnt so much so I would definitely recommend learning and continuing how to ring.

Secretary - Imogen Clarke

Hi, I'm Imogen from London and I study acoustical engineering.

Having never touched a bell in my life before uni, I joined SUGCR as a fresher and have formed some of my fondest and most fun memories with the society (as well as learning to ring!).

Treasurer - Max Hammick

I’m from Dorset, and I’m studying Mechanical Engineering. I first learnt to ring around 7 years ago, and taking a several year break from it I started again with SUGCR and haven’t looked back since.

Ringing with SUGCR is the most fun I’ve ever had with a rope. Whether you’re in the top 10 on bellboard or a complete novice, you won’t regret joining.

Social Secretary - Jon Mills

Hi I’m Jon, I am from Essex, and I am an Engineering student. I have been ringing for 5 years now, although in the 2 years I’ve spent with SUGCR I have improved more than the rest put together!

If you are unsure whether to carry on ringing now you have come to university, I would strongly recommend continuing, because it is a lot more fun ringing with people your own age, and you will make friends for life if you do!
